Both singing and the movements of T’ai chi and Qigong are as natural to the body as breathing. But the stresses, strains and constrictions of modern life often make us lose that connection. In this workshop we aim to help you break down some of those barriers and rediscover the innate connection with body, breath and voice. And have a relaxing, friendly and fun day in a truly beautiful and peaceful setting. Read more

Alexander Technique & Tai Chi Ruler October 2010

We are loved this weekend of relaxation and re-vitalisation with Glyn Williams, incorporating Alexander Technique and Tai Chi Ruler (Tai Chi Chih).

A participant at a previous retreat with Glyn Williams comments:

"The results I get from a short period of using the Tai Chi Ruler are remarkable. I can be stressed, jittery, worried about things - the usual scenario for many with a demanding job. As soon as I start using the ruler I feel a great calm. Using the Tai Chi Ruler can help slow my racing thoughts far more effectively than I could with conscious effort. I feel reassurance and peace and my own presence. After I finish, usually after around 20 minutes (I know I should do longer), I feel far more relaxed. It also seems to me that my days are more productive and successful, I get more done, than when I occasionally don't start the day with it (for example on business trips abroad). Glyn needs to develop a compact travel version!"

QiGong and Longevity Breathing, February 2010

This was a wonderful day of relaxation and health practices.

QiGong (also known as Chi Kung) is a gentle yet powerful method of reaching a profound state of relaxation, healing and building energy. Whatever your mind, body or spirit are in need of, QiGong can offer a way to healing and wellbeing.

Throughout the day we learnt gentle QiGong exercises from the Dragon & Tiger Medical QiGong set. This 1500 year old energy practice balances the energy of the acupuncture meridians and clears out energy blockages in in the body. These exercises work directly with the epheric body (aura), boosting the immune system and raising energy levels. In this way, QiGong promotes health, vitality and relaxation.

We finished the day with an introduction to Daoist Longevity Breathing. This is a foundational practice in which you learn to deepen, slow down and soften your breathing and begin to internally soften and massage the internal organs. In this way we begin to use the breath to let go of stress and tension.

These practices are an excellent way to counteract the stresses caused by living in a fast paced, mind-dominated society. They encourage the mind and body to work as one and to become balanced and settled.

Our teacher was Dave Willis, an experienced QiGong teacher and advanced student of one of the most influential QiGong masters in the western hemisphere, Master Bruce Frantzis.

Chi Kung and Shaitsu Day Retreat, November 2009

This was a day of relaxation and gentle exercise at the beautiful Pines Calyx. Chi Gung and Shiatsu massage are gentle yet powerful methods of reaching a profound state of relaxation, healing and building energy.

In the morning we learnt gentle Chi Gung exercises from the Dragon & Tiger set. This 1500 year old energy practice strengthens and regulates the acupuncture meridians, to promote health, vitality and relaxation.

Our Chi Gung teacher was Dave Willis, an experienced Chi Gung teacher and student of one of the most influential Chi Gung masters in the western hemisphere, Master Bruce Frantzis.

In the afternoon we turned to Shiatsu (and got to lie down after our delicious lunch!). Shiatsu literally means "finger pressure". It's a traditional hands-on Japanese healing therapy. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular shiatsu sessions help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives.

In this workshop we learnt some basic and easy to master techniques to use on our loved ones and friends.
